Course Inclusive Learning Spaces in Istanbul 2026
By improving access to well-designed spaces like classrooms and libraries, schools can significantly enhance students’ academic and social experiences, while also benefiting their well-being.
This 5-day Erasmus training was held first time in Helsinki’s libraries in June 2025 (video sessions), exploring the impact of sustainability, inclusion, and classroom/library design on student learning. For those with Erasmus projects, it is important to know that the course is also available on the ESEP platform. The course is organized once per year because trainers are available only during the summer vacation. The next course is scheduled from June 29th to July 3rd, 2026, in Istanbul. Radical School Librarianship: a Global Response
@GlobalLibrarians, a group of dedicated school librarians, are proud to announce that our new book is available (here). Radical School Librarianship is an essential read for school librarians and educators looking to gain a better understanding of how to create environments where equality, diversity, inclusion, and intellectual freedom (EDIIF) can thrive.
School librarians perform a critical and frontline role in defending EDIIF within their school communities. This comprehensive volume invites readers to learn from the experiences of school librarian leaders from around the globe in order to find inspiration, support, and strategies to continue promoting EDIIF. Each chapter addresses a particular way to take action. Bringing exemplary practices from Australia, Croatia, Ecuador, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, South Africa, Türkiye, the UK and US, chapters cover topics such as:
how librarians respond to changing social and political environments to ensure equity, diversity, inclusion, and intellectual freedom in their learning communities.
how literacy is promoted within inequitable educational landscapes;
how diversity and intellectual freedom are supported through book awards and social media.

The @GlobalLibrarians team promoted the book at the Helsinki Central Library Oodi, in the Mestna knjižnica Kranj, Slovenia, and at the ESHA conference in Rome, Italiy.
