International Virtual Storytelling

International team of teachers, librarians and the IASL members started a project of international virtual storytelling in 2020. The librarians ventured to a no-cost yet fun and educational virtual storytelling that involved librarians and students across the globe. The project started with pure entertainment, but the librarians firmed it up as the students’ interest grew. Regular monthly meetings, collaborations, and best practices were the key to success. The students even went beyond applying the moral lessons like doing simple chores and demonstrating the concept of trust and respect to others. The rich literary heritage allows the students to appreciate mother tongue and other cultures, gain confidence in sharing their thoughts and develop their academic and digital skills.

Some of the project activities are virtual storytelling, poster competition, bookmarks exchange, etc. The project activities were presented at the annual IASL conference in July 2022 and at the annual conference of Malaysian librarians in May 2022. International storytelling enriches everyday life in the partner schools from Croatia, Finland, India, Indonesia, Iceland, Malaysia, Nigeria, Turkey, Greece and the USA.

The video presentation of the project is available here and the article about the project is published in the British magazine Focus (download). The project results is presented at the annual IASL 2023 conference in Italy.
